The General Register Office for Scotland are conducting a consultation on all aspects of the Census. We believe, the Census should count and represent eveyone in Scotland, and to do that we need to hear from people and communities across Scotland so that we can represent their interests. We also need to hear from all traditional users of Census data who plan essential public services such as health, education, housing and planning.
The consultation will be an ongoing process from 2004 to 2009, but please respond early to have the greatest influence. There are four elements to the consultation:
Before 2011, there will be three 12-week formal consultations on all aspects of the Census, prior to the 2006 Census Test, the 2009 rehearsal and the 2011 Census.
The questionnaire consultation is an easy way for you to express your views on specific aspects of the Census. These questionnaires will be available for online completion on this website, postal return or email return. View these pages to find out more about past, current and planned questionnaires.
Consultation papers outlining our plans for 2011 will be published here. You will have an opportunity to respond to these papers.
We often meet with groups and individuals who have a specialist knowledge in a particular topic. Read about these Topic Groups, the minutes of these meetings, our plans for future meetings and how you can be involved in this work.
Have your say on how the next census' results should be presented by taking part in an online census outputs survey and blog.
