Increased Winter Mortality

Introduction

This section presents data on 'increased winter mortality' in Scotland. For the information presented here, increased winter mortality has been defined as the difference between the number of deaths in December–March and the average of the preceding (August–November) and following (April–July) non-winter periods.

Previous publications on increased winter mortality were called "Excess Winter Mortality"

An Occasional Paper was also published on 30 April 2002.
